Syria has been preparing for war with Israel.

Israeli intelligence sources said the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad has placed the military on alert. The sources said Syrian infantry commandos, armored units and anti-aircraft batteries have been ordered to launch preparations for an Israeli strike.

Iranians volunteer to fight Israel (The Gog/Magog War)
Surrounded by yellow Hezbollah flags, more than 60 Iranian volunteers set off this week to join what they called a holy war against Israeli forces in Lebanon.

The group — ranging from teenagers to grandfathers — plans to join about 200 other volunteers on the way to the Turkish border. They plan to reach Lebanon via Syria on the weekend.

Organizers said the volunteers are carrying no weapons, and it was not clear whether Turkey would allow them to pass.

A Turkish Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, would not say Wednesday if Turkey would allow them to cross. Iranians, however, can enter Turkey without a visa and stay for three months.

Episcopal Church’s Problems Rooted In Departure From Scripture (Apostate Christianity)
A traditional Anglican minister is criticizing his former bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas for allowing parishes to move forward with blessing homosexual relationships.

Arkansas Episcopal Bishop Larry Maze recently announced in a letter to clergy that certain parishes in the diocese will “likely move forward” with blessing same-sex unions. This news comes a month after the Episcopal General Convention decided not to adopt a moratorium on same-sex “blessing” ceremonies. At that same gathering, the Episcopal body also rejected a resolution to affirm that Jesus is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” as is stated in John 14:6.

Europe may be drawn into Mideast conflict (A Revived Roman Empire?)
Europe, with its long and often unhappy history in the Middle East, may be drawn into a big role in the proposed multinational force for south Lebanon.

But with troops already stretched from Afghanistan to Congo, Europeans are hardly clamoring for another Mideast entanglement. Along with the promise of a stronger European military profile, any involvement in the fight between Israel and Hezbollah militants holds the danger of a blow to the continent’s credibility.
